The benefits of sex

Sex is one of the greatest pleasures and also one of the most sustainable pleasures.

Some religions consider many aspects of sex to be sinful. Of course there are a lot of downsides to sex including unwanted pregnancy, incest, sexual assault and rape, harmful sexual deviancy and addiction. Notwithstanding, sex has many more upsides. when it is respectful, considerate and safe it is joyful, and definitely not sinful or wrong.

The upsides of sex

Sex is good in many different ways.

Sex is natural

A lot of what humans do is abstract and unnatural such as computer gaming, social media and even driving a car. Sex is as natural as it comes. Yes, sex is for making babies but it is for so much more – for humans anyway.

Sex is fun

There are other animals, apes and dolphins for example, that also have sex for fun. Intimacy is one of the most primal joys of human life. It is vital, and it creates vitality.

Sex is free

Although some people pay for it, sex is most often free.

Sex has no carbon footprint

Sex has no carbon footprint. It might be a little steamy (or a lot!) but there are no emissions. If sex results in pregnancy and another human or two that’s a different matter but most of the time sex doesn’t end in pregnancy.

Sex uses less resources

Sex uses little to no resources, it is like walking in that respect. It is physically good for you but even more so it is emotionally and mentally good for you.

The downsides to sex

There is dysfunction around sex including incest, rape, sexual assault, flashing, and others. There are also a wide variety of deviant and fetishistic sexual behaviours which may not be entirely healthy. People can get addicted to pornography, masturbation and sex.

However, like many other things, in moderation sex is natural, sustainable and a lot of fun.
